About This Qualification

This qualification requires a series of short-course, basic safety courses to be completed before attending and MCA Orals examination. There is no requirement to attend a taught course.

Our Orals preparation can be done in person or online. The length of time you will need, differs from person-to-person, and can be pre-planned with our instructor.

Assessment and Certification

  • STCW Sea Survival Course (Personal Survival Techniques)
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
  • STCW Elementary First Aid>
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
  • Helm Operation Certificate
  • MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Shore-based Certificate. See MSF for details of other certificates.

Once you pass your Orals with MCA, you will be awarded <200gt Master / OOW <500gt (Yachts). Please note – this is for OOW Yachts only.
