• Radar theory and practical
• Bridge watchkeeping

Assessment and Certification

 This is a practical, hands on course using our full mission bridge simulator for radar and electronic chart systems . Exercises will simulate real watchkeeping scenarios which can be applied to the coastal sea area.

There is no formal exam during the course, but students must demonstrate good navigational practice which will be assessed during the bridge simulator exercises.

Successful students will obtain MCA certification enabling them to meet the requirements of the Workboat Code, Appendix 3, related to the operational use of Radar.

The SSNR course is split into 2 modules, which we run consecutively:

Electronic Charting System (approved) and Bridge Watchkeeping – (3 days)  £615 inc VAT – to give candidates the essential education and training needed to keep a safe navigational watch and to use electronic charts, and other electronic aids to perform effective Bridge Watchkeeping in small vessels.

Small Ships Radar and Meteorology – (2 days) £410 inc VAT – to give candidates the essential education and training needed to use radar and obtaining Metrological information to maintain safety of navigation in small vessels.
