About This Qualification

This is a Qualifications Scotland (QA) Level 4 qualification. The qualification is supported by the Merchant Navy Training Board, and forms part of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency certification for Tug Masters.

The duration of this course is a maximum of 2 years.

Assessment and Certification

The Master Tug <500gt qualification requires you to complete an evidence portfolio to show the tasks you have completed at work.  Evidence can take the form of professional discussion, observation, witness testimonies and/or supporting documentary evidence.  The assessor will work alongside you to confirm you have met the requirements of the qualification and are competent in your role.

On completion of the Tug Master training, you will be awarded the Qualifications Scotland (QA) Level 4 Award in Maritime Studies – Master Tug <500gt.

Specification

This qualification is available to anyone who has already studied and achieved the ‘OOW Tugs <500t qualification.’
