Western Maritime Training Limited is a bespoke provider of commercial maritime training courses and bespoke maritime courses for companies and individual mariners. We are based in the historic yet dynamic seafaring port of Plymouth, in the United Kingdom. Incorporated in 1990, we have been delivering first class maritime training in the South West and globally, for over 30 years.
For commercial clients, we can provide flexible training portfolios tailored to specific requirements. This includes bespoke training and consultancy, to help clients maximise efficiency within their training programmes. For individuals, we can offer tailored packages, mentoring and support, such as assistance in identifying the correct qualifications for your chosen career path, help with completing application forms for MCA examinations, sourcing funding or completing grant applications.
About our Maritime Training Courses
We are the industry’s regional supplier of choice for quality maritime training and are committed to being a one-stop-shop for all your training needs; from STCW basic safety training to preparation for MCA Master Unlimited CoC Oral Examinations.
We have a wealth of experience in delivering high quality and cost-effective training courses that range from our basic entry-level STCW (Standard of Training and Certification and Watchkeeping) through to high-level courses such as Human Element, Leadership and Management at Operational and Management level (HELM), Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) GMDSS Radio certification (ROC and GOC) through to Navigational Aids and Simulator Training (NAEST). We also provide Efficient Deck Hand, workboat qualifications, and Oral Preparation for Certificates of Competence (CoC) examination.
Duplicate certificates are available at a price of £10 per certificate – please call or email us.
STCW Basic Safety Training Week
The most cost-effective way to complete this training is to book the course as a full week.
Alternatively, you can book the individual courses separately. If any of the other courses are booked, the 0.5-day STCW Security Awareness course is free of charge.

Industry Leading Maritime Training Facilities
We are an MCA Approved training provider and hold the prestigious international standard of administration and management competence, ISO 9001:2015 that has been held by us since 2017.
Our maritime training facilities include a full mission 270-degree Transas bridge simulator and three smaller Transas navigational bridges that can be linked as one vessel or create complex and bespoke passage planning, realistic ship handling and navigational training exercises in any weather condition. We provide a range of port types, from Plymouth Sound through to the Singapore Strait and have expert instructors on hand to ensure that theory and practice are combined to deliver a long-lasting learning experience that can be put into practice seamlessly in the real environment.
Our training provision includes Global Maritime and Distress Safety Training to Radio Operator Certificate level and General Operator Certificate level. This is delivered using the latest touchscreen technology and Transas software to ensure that the learning is as realistic as possible. Our pass rates are amongst the best in the country.
